Howl's Moving Castle

I love, love, love Studio Ghibli movies. Sometimes described as Japanese Disney, every movie that comes out of this company run by Hayao Miyazaki has this sense of childlike wonder that is entertaining for everyone, old and young. It was near impossible for me to choose just one to write about, but it would feel like a crime to not do one of my all-time favorite movies: Howl's Moving Castle. I could go on for hours about how entertaining of a movie this is, but it's also amazing from an artistic standpoint.

The animation is beautiful, but what's truly breathtaking are the hand-painted backgrounds. The level of detail put into each scene's background just shows the amount of effort and passion that the artists put into them. You can really tell how much the artists love what they do. The colors complement the overall childlike magic that the movie evokes.
