James Gilleard
Japanese Food (2016), James Gilleard
James Gilleard is an animator and illustrator represented by Folio Illustration Agency. I am drawn to his work because he has a very simple but detailed way of designing, if that makes sense. Gilleard's designs are very geometric while still looking realistic. I love how he adds details in an unconventional way, adding circles and rectangles with varying opacity to create unique textures. This is especially evident on the crabs in the above illustration. This creates an almost glitch-like feel to his pieces, which I connect with because I love creating glitch art. I am inspired by Gilleard's illustrations because he doesn't just follow the trends of modern design; he has created his own style which definitely makes him and his work stand out.
